Rosé 2024
At our winery, we take rosé seriously. Many fans of this appealing summer style may not realize that part of the grapes for our rosé come from one of our best-known vineyards – Santa Elizabeta – which also produces the fruit for our most prestigious wine of the same name. Located at over 300 meters above sea level, the vineyard offers a beautiful natural freshness, which is invaluable when crafting a true Teran-based expression of rosé. Teran is a red grape known for its high acidity, making it ideal for producing lively, refreshing rosés with sparkling vibrancy. It brings floral and fruity aromas. Complementing it in the blend is the globally renowned Merlot, which has found a new home in Istria and performs remarkably well, rounding out the final impression. The result is a modern, elegant, and very fresh rosé.

Year: 2024
The year was very warm and dry. Vegetation began normally, just a few days early due to a mild winter. Budburst, flowering, and fruit set proceeded in line with expectations. It was only with the arrival of summer that heat and drought began to make their mark. Yields were affected, but where grapes were preserved, the quality remained satisfying. Color development and ripening came earlier than usual, which in turn brought forward the harvest. Interestingly, warm years tend to suit Teran. Naturally high in acidity, Teran benefits from greater ripeness, which doesn't significantly lower its acidity, but rounds it off and softens it slightly. An early harvest helped preserve the delicacy of this wine style, while the freshness became more approachable.
Description:
The wine displays a very pale pink hue of low intensity, immediately hinting at a light, airy rosé. This gentle color results from minimal pressing and immediate separation of juice from the skins. Teran dominates the blend and, having ripened well, brings a soft and pleasant freshness. On the nose, you’ll find raspberry and cherry aromas, with an enticing touch of white pepper spice. There’s also a faint floral scent of cyclamen and rose. Merlot, the second component, further softens the wine and contributes its signature notes of red plum and strawberry. The structure is subtle, almost hidden, but the freshness lingers on the palate, carrying the wine’s fruity character. It’s smooth and graceful, masking the actual level of acidity present. This is a wine made for long, leisurely summer moments and a perfect rescue from the heat.
Gastronomic recommendation:
Perfect with shrimp carpaccio, seafood salads, strawberry sponge cake, semifreddo, fruit tarts, or simply enjoyed on its own.
