Teran Anno Domini 2008

Teran Anno Domini is produced only in good years, and hence the name. Grapes from our best vineyards are selected to produce this wine. After the ideal ripeness is reached and the vinification is complete, the wine is stored to age a few years, partly in wooden barrels and partly in the bottle. When it comes on the market, Teran Anno Domini is usually a well-rounded and full-bodied wine, with a lively acidic backbone, a valued collector's item with a long aging potential.

Year: 2008

The year 2008 was warm but balanced for the teran. Longer periods without rainfall during the growing season were interrupted by shorter rainy periods at regular intervals, which is why we consider the 2008 vintage one of our classics. Due to the longer warm periods, full maturity was reached a shade earlier, which on the vegetation side caused somewhat less lushness, as well as moderate yields. The grapes at harvest had a high concentration of malt, and in order to obtain an ideal balance of acids and full phenolic maturity, we additionally applied a rigorous green harvest with which we selected only the healthiest bunches of uniform maturity. The harvest was done in the first days of October.

Description:

A slightly more restrained fragrance at the beginning, which opens up after a short airing and in which black marasca cherries and forest fruits intertwine with notes of oak and leather. The taste is developed and lively at the same time, with depth and ripe tannins. It is moderately concentrated and medium to full bodied. With a lot of ripe fruitiness on the aftertaste, like fine spices in the background.

Gastronomic recommendation:

Dry aged beefsteaks and other aged steaks sprinkled with coarse salt and olive oil, or meat in rich sauces, like osso buco and similar dishes.
