Teran Anno Domini 2011

Teran Anno Domini is produced only in good years, and hence the name. Grapes from our best vineyards are selected to produce this wine. After the ideal ripeness is reached and the vinification is complete, the wine is stored to age a few years, partly in wooden barrels and partly in the bottle. When it comes on the market, Teran Anno Domini is usually a well-rounded and full-bodied wine, with a lively acidic backbone, a valued collector's item with a long aging potential.

Year: 2011

A year marked by warmer and drier weather. Stable and longer sunny periods accelerated and shortened the vegetation process, which resulted in a high concentration of malt and acids in the grapes. Yields were significantly lower, so bunches with dried berries were avoided during grape selection, all in order to preserve balance and achieve ideal phenolic maturity. Considering the exceptional health of grapes and vines during the entire growing season, right up until the harvest itself, we consider it one of the better vintages. It produced riper grapes than usual, with more concentration and consequently somewhat stronger alcohol, but the wine ultimately retained its typical lively and robust character.

Description:

A rich and layered fragrance in which ripe and candied marasca cherries are intertwined with spicy notes. The taste is characterized by high concentration and full body and fine spices in the background, then abundant and fully ripe tannins, then moderate acids and finally salty minerality on the finish. It is a terana of a mature type, sumptuous on the palate and focused on the nose, intended for pairing with heartier haute cuisine dishes.

Gastronomic recommendation:

Steaks in spicy sauces, osso buco in teran and other similar dishes.
