Caldierosso 2020
Caldierosso is our basic red wine from Teran grapes blended with Nebbiolo, Merlot and Tempranillo. It was named after Kaldir (Caldier), the village near the vineyards where the grapes for this wine are grown. Teran gives authenticity and juiciness, Nebbiolo provides the tannic backbone and red fruit aromas, Merlot adds fruitiness and body, and Tempranillo brings the structure and a Mediterranean note. All together form a complex wine with a finesse that exudes freshness and Istrian joie de vivre.

Year: 2021
The vintage of 2021 was a regular, classic year. The first part of the growth cycle was marked by a rather damp period, especially throughout April and May, but later the rainfall subsided, especially in August, September and October, which were completely dry and warm. The result was less lushness and moderate yield, higher phenolic concentration and very healthy grapes with potentially high sugar content. Teran was harvested around 20 September, Merlot around 25 September, while Nebbiolo and Tempranillo were picked in early October.
Description:
Dark ruby colour. A rich and lively wine, juicy at first, mineral in the finish, with a firm tannic backbone. On the palate it is vibrant and fruity, and on the nose it is complex, with aromas of black berries and notes of black cherry, ripe plum, cedarwood and tobacco. There is an impressive balance between maturity and juiciness, fullness and elegance, and it has enough charm to be enjoyed as an everyday wine at a family lunch, but at the same time it is also suitable for special occasions.
Gastronomic recommendation:
With red meat like grilled rump steak and similar smoked juicy cuts of meat, aromatic meat like lamb chops or pork ribs prepared to keep the juiciness, also with pasta alla Bolognese and other pasta dishes with dark sauces.
